Firstly I would like to say thank you to all our customers using our Windows servers for your support and trust in Host Media’s services.
I regret to inform you that as of Friday 12th October 2012 we will no longer be supporting Adobe ColdFusion 9 on shared Windows platforms. Going forward, we will continue to use Linux based services, however, we will still be offering Windows hosting solutions but without the ColdFusion service.
This is something that as a company, we have been considering for a while, and with recent events involving at the level of security which Adobe ColdFusion 9 Standard on Windows provides we do not wish to run these services together anymore.
This will not effect customers on our Dedicated and VPS services running Windows and Adobe ColdFusion, and we will continue to fully support these services.
ASP.NET / PHP Users
If you are using ASP.NET on our Windows services you will not be affected by this change but you will notice a performance increase due to the resources moving from the ColdFusion service to ASP.NET and PHP.
When will the ColdFusion service stop
We will be uninstalling Adobe ColdFusion 9 and the Plesk plugins in 2 months time (Friday 12th October 2012). You will still be able to access your files to transfer to a new service even after the ColdFusion service has been stopped but the pages will not be able to load, we will not remove any files unless requested by you.
Request to move to Linux ColdFusion 9 Enterprise servers
If you would like to move from our Windows UK ColdFusion services to our powerful Linux US ColdFusion (cPanel/WHM) services and receive free upgrades for staying with us please open a sales ticket at: https://www.hostmedia.co.uk/client/submitticket.php?step=2&deptid=1
Our team will migrate your account to our servers running ColdFusion 9 Enterprise.
Future of ColdFusion at Host Media
Within the hosting industry we are currently seeing a move away from Adobe ColdFusion and into open source CFML engines such as Railo and OpenBD which we would like to focus more on. We will continue to operate our current US based Linux Adobe ColdFusion service as we believe that this has provided the ColdFusion community with a reliable and secure service since we started it a couple of years ago.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to read this email, and if you do require extra support with this matter, please contact us using the details below.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or concerns and I will be more than happy to help.
